The next meeting will be the AGM and this will take place on Wednesday May 23rd, 7.30pm at Clwyb Rygbi Dinbych and all clubs are asked to send a representative
To all clubs:
We recently held a Junior Association meeting at Denbigh which was unfortunately poorly attended by North Wales clubs.
The Junior Association directly represents all Mini & Junior sections in North Wales and at the meetings clubs and individuals can access a wealth of information, keep up with any changes that are occurring and of course, can air views and have a moan.
At Wednesday nights meeting a very informative presentation regarding our Junior Representative teams was given by Dai Higgs explaining the WRU rationale on Junior development, and Jim Salisbury brought everyone up to date on what the newly appointed WRU participation officers were up to.
Other items that were discussed are detailed in the attached minutes, these meetings are open and everyone is welcome to attend.
The next meeting will be the AGM and this will take place on Wednesday May 23rd, 7.30pm at Clwyb Rygbi Dinbych, further details and the agenda will be published shortly, I would ask that all clubs make an effort to attend.

Minutes of last meeting – agreed that details therein was correct.
Matters Arising – Revised copy of Registration Procedure attached. Julian and Keith to arrange convenient time to pick up surplus North Wales kit from lock up.
Chair’s Report – Nothing to report
Secretaries Report – Requested that minutes could be provided earlier if possible.
Treasurer’s report – Spreedsheet and explanation of current financial situation supplied to all present by Keith Hulse, Current balance £308.97
Registration Secretaries Report – 4062 reported players across North Wales Junior sections. Surprise arising from the number of new registrations coming in considering stage of season. Rhos have started registering players, updated player numbers required from them, JF will chase. The question was asked as to whether the old style registration cards can still be accepted (green in colour); this will be the last season where they are allowed. Keith will communicate information out to clubs.
Fixture Secretaries Report – (From Will Morcombe) The only game I have been asked to arrange this season was for the North-East Under 14s who played their East Cheshire counterparts at New Brighton. We had hoped to arrange a return fixture this month but East Cheshire 14s don’t cary on after Easter.
I have already informed Keith but I will be standing down as Fixture Sec for the Association at the AGM- I have recently been appointed Team Manager of the RGC 1404 senior side which unfortunately does not leave much time for anything else Rugby-wise.- Whether or not the Association wishes to appoint a new fixture sec at the AGM is something that might well be worth discussing. With the well documented and much discussed changes to the representative side of the game the role of Fixture sec is very much reduced from what it was. The Under 16 team is organised as part of the regions academy and beneath that there are no longer regional teams at Under 14 and Under 15 age-groups as instead we have the provincial sides which at Under 15 age play in the Dewar shield and beneath that concentrate on skills development under the direction of the RDO’s.
As stated previously the sole fixture I was asked to arrange this year was for the North-East Under 14s. I know that East Cheshire 14s would be keen on playing home and again next year but probably easier for Julien or one of the coaches to contact them direct in order to so arrange.
I have very much enjoyed my time as Fixture Sec- as most of you probably aware one think I am good at is talking- and am more than happy to pass on contacts for fixtures to either the RDO’s or the new fix sec. Will Morcombe
Development Officer Reports – Nothing to add from last month’s report for Any of the provinces. North West Wales have reached the finals of the Amdahl Bowl competition, to be played in South Wales on Saturday 21st April.
Dai Higgs reiterated reasoning behind changes to the provincial age grade system. In essence, talent I.D. cannot be conducted accurately with players under the age of 14 due to maturation development, this is supported across research conducted in numerous sports. It is the intention to maintain the interest of all players through and beyond this maturation stage so that they are still involved in the sport when the time arises for selection into elite squads. Dai Higgs is the point of contact for any queries regarding this issue.
Jim Salisbury explained his role as Participation Officer in terms of responsibilities being primary school rugby, mixed touch rugby with adolescents and adults and the new Rugby Stars initiative.
Any Other Business –
RGC – Several issues have arisen in recent times regarding player selection by RGC and a lack of communication with clubs. It was requested that all clubs who have or are experiencing problems regarding RGC U16s or U18s contact Keith Hulse directly so that action can be taken.
Eryri Cup – U12s, 14s & 16s games to be finalised for culmination of tournament. John Prebble co-ordinating.
Julian brought to the attention of the committee his intentions to develop Girls rugby within the province, requesting that any clubs wishing to start up a girls section contact him so that arrangements can be made to commence the initiative.
Date and time for next meeting – AGM will be held on23rd May, 2012. To start at 19:30hrs at Denbigh RFC.
There are no events to show yet.
