The following reports are from games between Rhyl v Wrexham 21/10/12
U7’s
Rhyl under 7's got the new season under way with two games against Wrexham and Mold rugby club, with a fine display from Dewi Speakman, Lewis Jones, Dominic Peters, Leon Cotterell, Rhys Davies, and a special performance from Kodie Gibbs. Coach Paul Jones was very proud of the team and is looking forward to working with all the players this season.
U8’s
Rhyl under8's produced a fantastic display in four games against Wrexham drawing the first game five all, with try coming from Joseph Mckenna, Daniel Roberts, Haydn Yeomans, and a brace from Ryan Espley. Rhyl manage to steal 4- 3 in game two with a spread of try’s from Joseph Roberts, Ethan Philpott, Owain Espley, and Roman Hodgson. Rhyl maintained their winning streak by taking the next game 4-3 with try’s coming from Joseph Mckenna, Daniel Roberts, Dylan Cook, Dilan Volshenic, and in game four Rhyl were far more superior winning 7-3 with try’s from Owain Espley, Ryan Espley, Roman Hodgson, and an excellent performance from Airan Semple scoring four try’s, and a fine debut from Caramon Rousseall.
U11’s
Rhyl under 11’s lost their first match of the season in controversial circumstances going down 26 – 14 to Wrexham. After some fine play by the forwards, stand in fly-half James Fielding broke away to run half the length of the pitch only to be have the try disallowed, been ruled to have touched down over a poorly marked dead ball line. With more decisions going against them Rhyl struggled to grasp control of the game. Fielding did have some consolation scoring a try followed by a second from Craig Koffler. Fielding converted both tries.
U13’s
Rhyl travelled to Wrexham with 15 players, with a third of the team being very new to the game. Oliver Rowan set the tone for a very physical match with a crunching tackle on a Wrexham player. Every Rhyl player worked for each other, competing at the breakdown and holding their own in the set pieces. The Wrexham made some telling changes and began to wear the Rhyl team down, and scoring some good tries, however the Rhyl team battled to the end eventually going down 35-0. With a great team performance. Alun Hughes put in a great performance. Jordan Williams and Rayston Rousseau shared man of the match on their debuts.
U14's
Rhyl U14s put in a spirited performance as they go down fighting to an experienced Wrexham side. Rhyl started the slower of the two teams and found themselves 14-0 down within the first 10 minutes. The rest of game however was a different story with both teams attacking and defending well throughout. Rhyl scored first in the second half and often looked the better team. The score now 14-5. Minutes later a great run by Rhyl new Boy Ben Hopkins almost ended with a try only to be tackled into touch a metre before the line. Both teams continued to have their scoring opportunities but some ill-discipline under pressure by Rhyl and clinical finishing by Wrexham saw Wrexham win the game 28-5. Great team effort. Scorers for Rhyl: Tries-Sasha Pichushkin -1

NEWS FROM THE BAY - A round-up of Colwyn Bay junior results
Colwyn Bay Under 16s 34 v Llandudno Under 16s 0
One of the most eagerly awaited local derby games in North Wales between two talented sides was played at Colwyn Bay on a beautiful Sunday morning with the honours going to Colwyn Bay. Whilst the game may seem one sided credit must be given to the Llandudno boys who battled to the end of the game and left Brookfield Road very well Captained with their heads held high.
The Bay got off to a flying start scoring within 4 minutes with Hooker Jacob Weigh going over for a forwards try which was converted by Olly Wood Fullback. During the first half the Bay had the vast majority of the possession and territory however the Bay did not make it pay as strong defence by Llandudno and very well organised set pieces by Llandudno kept the Bay from crossing the line more often in the first half.
However after 25 minutes from the base of the ruck on the 22metre line, a “pop up” pass from Remy Sheil Scrum Half enabled Tom Sudlow Poole Back Row to take the ball at speed and cross the line for an unconverted try. The first half finished again with Bay in ascendency but again the Bay were not taking the chances again due to good defence by Llandudno, and the teams went in at half time 12: nil to the Bay, with everything to play for.
In the second half Llandudno started to play as we know they can do and started to put some good set piece moves together and moving the ball down the line at pace which kept the Bay on their toes. However losing the ball in contact and missing tackles cost Llandudno dearly which enabled the Bay to move the ball quickly away from the contact zone out to the backs and with the Bay playing more as a team rather than as individuals the tries started to come.
Jake Wilson Inside Centre went over for a try which was converted by Olly Wood after 33 minutes to make the score 19 nil. This was followed by Jacob Weigh Hooker scoring a wingers try in the corner to make the score 24 nil after 43 minutes. Harri Chinery Parkes the Bay Captain and playing at Centre went in for a try which was again converted by marksman Olly Wood to make the score 29 nil.
Llandudno rallied late in the second half and were in the Bay 22m but again good defence and tactical kicking by the Bay backs stopped line being crossed. Harri Chinery Parkes added to the score line in late in the match but the conversion was missed and the game ended at 34 nil to the Bay.
Both teams can take something from this game. The “never say die attitude” by Llandudno is a priceless commodity in any team sport .For the Bay the team defence it was good with “first up” tackles ensuring no territory was given up, but the Bay will need to take their chances more often.
The Bay Man of the Match was Tom Sudlow Poole Flanker with another good defensive contribution from the Bay backs. The stand out player for Llandudno was the Fly Half who tackled everything that came at him in a blue and white shirt. Also a very good exhibition of Captaincy by Llandudno was shown who maintained the team discipline in spite of the game going away from his team.

BAY's FREE FLOWING DISPLAY
COLWYN BAY U13 59 v LLANDUDNO U13 7
SUNDAY 21st OCTOBER 2012
Four tries from wing Nye Michael and a hat trick from fullback Sam Earl-Jones epitomised the free flowing rugby display by Captain Peter Jones’ Colwyn Bay side against a plucky Llandudno.
Intelligent distribution from Will Opie at scrum half linked the hard driving of the forwards particularly from Conor Hogan, Ruby Roberts and Owen Rees with the excellent handling and ball retention of Sion Edwards, Carwyn Knights and the ever present Seb Marshall in support.
Llandudno, 40 points down at half time, brought the game back to the Bay and gained a well earned try. Llandudno's progress was stemmed by some great tackling particularly from Sam Holt and Robbie Wilks.
There then followed a series of width of the field handling moves with strong rucking and driving particularly from Conor Hogan to set up tries for Ruby Roberts, Peter Jones, Owen Rees and Nicholas Young
Man of the Match: Will Opie for good vision.
Try Scorers: Nye Michael 4 tries, Sam Earl-Jones 3 (2 conv), Ruby Roberts, Peter Jones, Owen Rees, Nicholas Young.

DINBYCH JUNIOR NEWS AND REPORTS - Sunday 21 October 2012
Dinbych’s older thee Junior Sides made the long journey to Pwllheli and the honours ended up being shared by the two clubs with each winning one game and the third ending in a draw.
Pwllheli U15 7 v Dinbych U15 22
Dinbych’s Under 15s extended their unbeaten run to four games but were given a major fright by a committed Pwllheli performance. Dinbych came from behind to win 7-22 thanks to a brace of tries from prop Harri Evans with James Fisher-Jones and Gruff Roberts also touching down and Roberts adding a conversion. Pwllheli sole try came from Sion Bryn and was converted by Tomos Hughes.
Pwllheli U14 10 v Dinbych U14 10
The Under 14's game saw a tightly competed contest which ended with a 10-10 draw as both the hosts Pwllheli and visitors’ Dinbych scored 2 unconverted tries each. Dinbych tries were scored by Rhys Johnson and Josh Howarth.
Pwllheli U16 56 v Dinbych U16 0
The home side took the honours in the Under 16s clash and Dinbych’s coaches could be forgiven for feeling their players hadn’t left the bus, as they went down 56-0.

Pwllheli U15s 7 points v Dinbych U15s 22 points
Dinbych continued their unbeaten record this season with their third consecutive away win. The previous games having been at neighbours’ Mold and Rhyl, this time the 15s faced a much longer journey to Pwllheli.
The early departure from Dinbych for the 90 minute bus journey combined with the lack of a full warm up explained why the visitors looked ill at ease at kick off. Pwllheli took an early advantage with their pacy wing Sion Bryn running through lacklustre Dinbych defending to touch down under the pasts. Tomos Hughes added the extras for the home side to give them an early 7-0 lead.
Dinbych struggled to settle into the game. Defensively they looked ragged and the few efforts at attacking play fizzled out because of handling errors and poor decision making. However as the first half neared an end, Dinbych started to play with more confidence. A period of better drilled play saw the visitors win a scrum 10 metres out from the Pwllheli try line on the left of the filed. Flanker James Fisher Jones picked up a recycled ball and powered through to score under the posts. Gruff Roberts converted the extras with the last play of the half to bring the sides level at 7-7.
Pwllheli started the second half confidently and now with the advantage of the slope, but Dinbych turned over the ball just inside their own territory and the backs moved the ball wide. Centre Aled Douglas received the ball just outside the 22 metres and cut some perfect angles to defeat the Pwllheli defence. A desperate tackle felled Douglas just short of the try line but prop Harri Evans was on hand to collect the ball and crash over for Dinbych’s second.
Dinbych were now playing with their tails up. Wing Dylan Easton did well to collect a high kick under pressure on his own 22 metre line. Having spun past a Pwllheli tackler, he put in a very neat kick to touch which went out on the Pwllheli 22 metre line. The home side’s ball was stolen at the ensuing line out by Harri Evans who bulldozed through the Pwllheli defence to cross for his second unconverted try and open up the margin to 7-17.
With 10 minutes left, Dinbych made sure of the result. Under pressure, Pwllheli’s full back hoisted a clearance kick into midfield where it was collected by his Dinbych counterpart Gruff Roberts. Roberts set off on one of his trademark solo runs and outstripped the home defence to cross for Dinbych’s fourth. A difficult angel meant he could not add the extras, but his try gave Dinbych a 7-22 winning margin.
Next week the 16, 15s and 14s are at home to mid Wales team COBRA. The first games at Caeau les Phillips will kick off at 10.30am
