North Wales Youth Cup Preliminary Round
With the continuing wet weather making most club pitches unplayable St. Davids College was the venue for this cup tie, despite heavy overnight rain the referee declared the pitch playable.
Unfortunately both sides had a shortage of players, therefore the match was a 12 man a side game. This derby cup tie was never going to be a spectacle due to the paddy field conditions but credit to both sides as they attempted to play an expansive game with the home side crossing over for the first try.
Five minutes later The Bay’s inside centre Ethan Morris broke through to touchdown. Instead of gaining momentum from the try the visitors let Llandudno dictate the game by not putting pressure in defence and missing numerous tackles with the home side steadily building a commanding lead going into the second half.
The Bay enjoyed long periods of possession in the second half and they played most of the rugby in their opponents half with prop Richard Hillier producing a strong determined run to touchdown in emphatic style.
Although the game was lost in the first half The Bay lads continued to produce a gutsy performance and all twelve players must be congratulated for playing for the club in such horrendous conditions. Corey Butler was awarded man of the match for his courageous display.
