Alex Schwarz and Harri Evans called in to this Sunday's Wales Under 20 training squad
The good news from RGC keeps on coming with 2 of the Academy Players Alex Schwarz and Harri Evans both been called into the Wales National U20s training squad for this Sunday.
Both players are currently in the RGC senior side who are enjoying a great start to their debut season in Division 1 East. Harri Evans credits his time with the RGC Academy “it has helped me both physically and mentally and the extra time spent training has clearly been a big benefit to my game”
Both boys are excited about the call ups and are looking forward to showing what they can do. Alex Schwarz was surprised when he heard he had been called up “I am a little bit nervous, which is to be expected but once we are both down there we will hopefully represent North Wales rugby well.”
Both players have been playing well for the RGC senior side and are still amazed about the crowd that turned up for the 1st home match at Eirias last Saturday. Alex felt the crowd made a difference “You could feel the positive atmosphere when we ran on the pitch, and with the win it is something we can build on. Hopefully that’s the size of crowd we will get every match as it will definitely push on through the season”
Harri is also looking forward to RGC’s biggest test of the season away to league leaders Ystrad Rhondda on Nov 3rd “Ystrad are the pace setters in the league so far, and the game next week will be huge. We have to go into to it as if it’s a cup final and put in a top performance if we want to come away with a result.”
Alex also agrees about the Ystrad game as they have been racking up not only the wins but the bonus points as well “All the boys know how important this game is, so we will be focused on making sure we do everything right for the 80 minutes to put us in the position to win”
But before the huge RGC game both boys have the small matter of impressing the Wales U20’s coaching staff on Sunday and I am sure the good news from north wales will continue for them!
