Pwllheli Youths 0 v 35 Denbigh Yths
Pwllheli played good rugby throughout the first half and should have scored a couple of tries despite a Denbigh try after fifteen minutes. Denbigh brought on their heavyweight forwards in the second half and destroyed the home side's tight defence to score a further four tries as well as two penalties and two conversions.

Pwllheli Youths 0 v Denbigh Youths 35
Denbigh made the long journey to Pwllheli on Saturday where they maintained their excellent recent form based on their solid defence and forward play. In good playing conditions Denbigh elected to play against the breeze in the first half and were soon on the front foot with several encouraging moves thwarted by some good Pwllheli cover defence. It took Denbigh 15 minutes to register their first score when hooker and man of the match Aled Potts crossed from five meters after taking a pass from a ruck. Another similar phase of play saw prop Ifan Roberts cross the line but the try was disallowed as the Referee was unsighted. Pwllheli were never out of the game in the first half and Denbigh had to defend some promising Pwllheli attacks on several occasions with Gareth Howatson saving the day with some good covering tackles. HT 5-0
With the breeze at their backs in the second period and under instructions to pin Pwllheli down in their half, the Denbigh half backs kicked intelligently to deliver this plan and were soon in the ascendancy with Huw Alexander kinking two penalties to stretch the lead. With Denbigh now winning the rucks at will; where Ben Parry was prominent; the Denbigh backs helped themselves to three tries scored by Huw Alexander and Centre Gethin Lloyd (2) two of which were converted. Denbigh completed the rout when substitute flanker Ellis Roberts crossed from short range. The win sees Denbigh moving up to fourth place in the League and are looking forward to the semi final of the Plate competition against Wrexham in two week's time.

BANGOR 12 v 5 NANT CONWY
WRU YOUTH LEAGE 2 NORTH
Both teams lined up before the kick off for a minutes silence in memory of Mark Roberts, father of youth team player Karl who died recently.
This was a must win game for both teams if they are to win the league and the players of both sides produced a cracking game in which both teams played like terriers refusing to give up a bone. Bangor had the greater share of the ball and fought hard to convert pressure into points. The pack drove over the try line but the ball was held up and soon after wing forward Declan Jones crossed the line but a defender got under the ball and prevented its grounding. The home team were were awarded a scrum about 10 metres out and two passes saw centre Calvin Williams crash through the defenders for a clear try converted by outside half Alex Griffiths. A missed penalty would have increased the lead but Nant fought back with determination and after 35 minutes winger Steffan Horam got in at the corner for an unconverted try. Bangor might have rested until half time but came straight back and forced a line out inside the 22 meter area. The ball went to forward Jordan Scott standing off the lineout and he piled in and recycled the ball. This time the receiver was second row Harry Caulfield who crashed through the defence for a fine try. The conversion bounced off the upright and the cross bar before falling the wrong side.
The second half was fought so keenly that it produced no points for either side. Bangor played intelligently keeping the ball tight and not giving the visitors any chance of a break away try. Their forwards were relentless and although they couldn't break the defence most of the half was played on or around the Nant 22 m line. They did force a maul over the try line only to be held up.

League Division 6 (Central)
Llandrindod Wells 19 v Wick 13
Travelling with no subs and Wick could be forgiven for treading lightly in this match. Not so as they started explosively putting Llandrindod, who usually start rather sleepily, to the sword. Wick could easily have scored from the kick-off as one of the flankers caught the ball and was only brought down feet from the Llandrindod line. On the back foot for the next 10 minutes and Llandrindod could easily have conceded points when the same Wick player was brought down close to the line.
This really was as good is it was going to get for the visitors. At last getting a measure of control in their own half, Llandrindod started to hold and then dominate Wick especially up front with the Wick pack clearly having as torrid time of it. It was in the backs that Wick looked the most dangerous and it took good defensive work to keep them out. Generally though, the first half was a lovely spectacle of running rugby with both side determined to move the ball around.
Darting runs from the Llandrindod scrum-half Dale Wilson made metres of space in the Wick half and the result of one of these breaks was a push-over try by Dave Ramplee. Wick countered with a penalty from Dan Powell, but another try for Llandrindod, this time initiated by stand-off Matthew Williams whose kick and chase, and then subsequent
scrums, saw hooker Paul Middleton go over under the posts with Williams converting giving Llandrindod a 12-3 advantage at the break.
The second half was a more turgid affair. Numerous injury stops, mainly to Wick players, slowed the game down but Wick stuck to their task and narrowed the scoreline with a Powell penalty. Still Llandrindod kept up the pressure, this time by the backs with centre Dan Ruell making a number of surging runs and tieing up much of the Wick back line in defence. It was centre Matthew Jenkins who scored Llandrindod's final try after a typical Dale Wilson break, conversion by Jac Holden.
The final quarter was one of Wick attacks with Llandrindod wing Bon Williams, and hooker Middleton, resolute as always. The inevitable came though as Wick broke through with a nice try from Kieran David, converted by Powell. At the conversion, the referee called 'time' and Wick had gained a loser's bonus point.
This week, Llandrindod travel to Glyncoch in the League where they have a tough task against a side unbeaten this season.

Rhayader RFC 15 v 55 Luctonians XV
With Cobra pulling out of the league fixture late in the day, Rhayader had to call in a favour from Luctonians RFC. Having played a friendly against our border rivals earlier in the season, Lucton were keen to return the favour.
Lucton who's first team play in National League Division One in the English pyramid system, filled their squad with many 2nd team players and were too strong for the young Rhayader team but the home side will have been very grateful for the game.
Manager Terry- John Hutchinson had a very large squad of regulars to pick from, added to this the inclusion of new faces Stu Jones and Luke 'Gordy' Evans and the return of journey man Robbie Mills and club captain Phill Harris.
Although up against it for most of the game, Rhayader were never overwelmed until the last quarter. Five tries came in the last 20 minutes after Rhayader lost their shape with so many players coming on and going off.
John Foster kicked a long range penalty in the first half to make a score of 12-3 and replacement Dan Goodman ran in two very good individual tries in the second half. John Foster converting the one and being very unlucky with the other .... hitting the post from wide out left.
Although a tough afternoon Rhayader will have learned many lessons and its another game under the belt for the very young squad.
Next up is the away trip to Ludlow 2nds on Saturday as manager Terry- John Hutchinson continues building towards the season finale and the Mid Wales Cup Final.
