NANT CONWY 30 v CAERNARFON 0
(Hanner amser / Half time: 20 - 0)
Sgorwyr / Scorers:
NANT CONWY: Ceisiau / Tries: OWAIN JONES, AERON JONES, IFAN JONES & CARWYN ELLIS
Trosi / Conversions: AERON JONES (2)
Ciciau Cosb / Penalties: AERON JONES (2)
Chwaraewyd y gêm hon yn Nant gan fod cae Caernarfon yn cael ei wella gan y Cyngor lleol ac nad yw’n barod chwarae arno eto. Yn chwarae i wyneb yr haul, aeth Nant ar y blaen ar ôl 5 munud pan fu i’r hannerwr, Owain dorri trwy’r amddiffyn i dirio’r bêl.
Yn chwarae fel cefnwr (rhif 15) am y tro cyntaf erioed ac yn cicio am y pyst am y tro cyntaf erioed hefyd, llwyddodd Aeron i drosi’r cais. Wyth munud yn ddiweddarach gyda chyfnod o ymosod gorau’r gêm hwyrach, gwelwyd Aeron yn tirio ar y chwith wedi’r bêl gael ei phasio ddwyawith ar hyd llinell y cefnwyr.
Methodd a throsi’i gais ei hun! Gyda 26 munud ar y cloc, trosodd gic gosb a hynny wed i giciwr dibynadwy Caernarfon fel arfer, fod yn aflwyddiannus gyda dau ymgais debyg. Yn dilyn cyfnod o bwyso parhaus gan y blaenwyr, llwyddodd Ifan (rhif 9) i gyffwrdd y llinnell gyda’r bêl i sgorio’r trydydd cais. Aflwyddiannus fu’r ymgais i drosi eto.
Yn unig ymosodiad Caernarfon drwy’r hanner, gellid dadlau eu bod wedi ‘sgorio’ cais gan y blaenwyr reit ar yr hanner ond barnodd y Dyfarnwr, a gafodd gêm arbennig o dda, na fu iddo weld y cyffyrddiad. Sgôr o 20 – 0 ar yr hanner felly gyda Nant wedi chwarae’n neilltuol o dda.
Roedd rhan fwyaf o chware’r ail hanner rhwng y ddwy linell 22 gyda Nant yn taclo’n frwd drwy’r amser. Llwyddodd Aeron gyda chic gosb ar ôl 6 munud i roi Nant ymhellach ar y blaen. Roedd y gêm wedi cyrraedd 80 munud, pan sylweddolodd y tîm cartref y byddai un cais arall yn dod a phwynt ‘bonws’.
Gwthiwyd pac Caernarfon yn ôl ar eu pêl eu hunain yn y sgrym olaf ond un a dyfarnwyd cic gosb i Nant o’r herwydd. Penderfynodd Nant fynd am sgrym arall a gwthiwyd pac yr ymwelwyr tros y llinell gyda’r rhif 8 a’r capten yn codi’n fuddugoliaethus wedi sgorio’r cais. Trosodd Aeron gyda chic olaf y gêm i roi sgôr derfynol o 30 – 0.
Sadwrn nesaf, bydd y tîm Cyntaf yn chwarae GARTREF eto, yn erbyn LLANGEFNI y tro hwn gyda’r ail dîm yn chwarae I FFWRDD yn erbyn LLANGEFNI hefyd. Bydd yr Ieuenctid yn chwaraeI FFWRDD,yn ogystal, yn erbyn Y DRENEWYDD.
This match was played at Nant as the Caernarfon pitch is being re-laid by the local Council and the surface is not yet ready to play on.
Playing towards the sun, Nant went ahead after 5 minutes play, when the fly half, Owain broke through the defence and touched down for a try. Full back, Aeron, playing in that position for the first time ever and making his debut as a place kicker, was successful with the conversion attempt.
Eight minutes later following what many would say the best attacking movement of the entire game when the ball was passed along the back line twice, Aeron managed to touch down on the wing. He failed to convert his own try though. With 26 minutes on the clock, Aeron was successful with his first penalty attempt – this after Caernarfon’s usually reliable kicker had failed with two similar attempts.
Following a period of immense pressure by the home pack, Ifan (scrum half) eventually managed to touch the ball down on the try line to score the third try. Again, the conversion attempt failed. One could argue that the visitors were unfortunate not to be allowed to score a ‘try’ in the last moments of the half when the Referee, who had an excellent match, said that he had not seen the ball touching the line. This, as it turned out, was the visitors only purposeful attack of the entire match.
A half time of score of 20 – 0 then with Nant having played really well throughout the half.
Most of the play in the second half occurred between the two 20 metre lines with Nant tackling ferociously throughout. Aeron kicked a penalty after 6 minutes to extend the lead. Indeed, the match had reached 80 minutes when the home pack seemed to realise that another try would gain a ‘bonus’ point. A defensive scrum by the visitors was pushed back by the Nant forwards that resulted in a penalty. Nant decided to re set the scrum and pushed the visiting pack over the line and Captain, Carwyn Ellis was beaming when he got up after gaining the touchdown. Aeron was successful with the last kick of the match to give a final score of 30 – 0.
Next Saturday, the first team will be playing AT HOME against LLANGEFNI with the 2nd Team playing AWAY against the same opposition. The Youth team will also be AWAY– against NEWTOWN this time.
Canlyniad yr Ail Dîm / 2nd Team Result: NANT CONWY – 12 v CAERNARFON – 29
Canlyniad yr Ieuenctid / Youth Team Result: WELSHPOOL – 0 V NANT CONWY - 51

Ruthin 25 v Llangefni 22
Ruthin entertained Llangefni in this Division 1 North game which turned out to be a nailbiter right until the last minute.
The visitors got point on the board with a penalty goal in the first five minutes. The Blues quickly responded with a try from fly half Harri Morgan only for Llangefni to go 8-5 up with a race down the pitch for a try after a blues missed tackle around half way. Carwyn Milburn for the visitors then slotted over two further penalty goals in quick succession.
Things got significantly worse for the Blues when one of their centres was red carded for a dangerous tackle.
The visitors went 17-5 up from the resultant penalty and Ruthin were faced with playing the remaining 60 minutes with 14 men and already 12 points in arrears.
Adversity seemed to spur the Blues into action and from a lineout 5 yds out from the visitors line the pack drove over and were awarded a penalty try.
The Blues kept up the pressure but there was no further score and at the break the visitors were 17-12 up. Ruthin continued where they left off in the second half and after Cefni went down to 14 men after a yellow card second row Chris Lewis broke through for a fine try converted by replacement Deian Lloyd.
Lloyd widened the gap with a penalty goal only for the visitors to get their second try from a lineout 5 yards out from the Ruthin try line.
With around 10 minutes to go the scores were even at 22-22.
Llangefni were playing with some spirit and the Blues were having to defend well against their strong pack .
Lloyd put the Blues ahead at 25-22 with another penalty goal and although the visitors responded again Ruthin defended well and the whistle blew with the home side again challenging in Cefni’s 22.
