League leaders Caernarfon went down 25-19 at Bethesda in their first defeat of the season in Division One North. They remain seven points clear of the pack, but Bethesda moved up to second place ahead of Mold.
Bethesda ran in three tries, one apiece for outside half Gareth Wyn Roberts, wing David Thomas and full back Llion Lloyd. The visitors replied with tries from wing Robert Farrar and the back-row pair of Gwilym Jones and Rhys Evans.
Mold remain in third place despite going down 13-16 at home against Bro Ffestiniog. Barry Roberts scored the visitors' points with a try, three penalties and a conversion. Mold responded with a try from scrum-half Liam Gill and two penalties plus a conversion by fly-half Steven Quinton.
Nant Conwy 58 v Llandudno 18
Nant started brightly again today leading 12-0 after only 12 mimutes play. Firstly, the pack pushed over for Eryl, the Hooker to touch down and then, Ifan again wrong footed the defensive line by side stepping and scoring underneath the posts. Andre converted this try. Llandudno scored an excellent try through Dave Davies on the left wing after 18 minutes – a try duly converted by Tom Hucknell. Andre converted his first penalty after 32 minutes whist Tom Hucknell replied in a similar vein two minutes later. Right on the stroke of half time, Ton Hucknell squirmed over for a try on the left and competently converted his own score from the touchline. A score of 15 – 15 at half time then.
Nant were the masters during the second half scoring 7 tries in total compared with Tom Hucknell’s penalty as the only score for Llandudno. Andre revelled in his role as full back scoring THREE consecutive tries. Then Aeron broke the sequence by scoring his first try before Andre was successful with his second penalty. Caron, the number 7, scored a try with 15 minutes left before Euros, the Centre scored a try. This time, Andre converted after narrowly missing with three earlier attempts. Just before the end, Aeron scored his second try (and Nant’s ninth) with Andre duly converting to make a final score of 57 – 18.
A late try from No 8 Shay Tudor, his third of the day, rescued the points for Ruthin who overcame bottom side Pwllheli 21-20. The home side ran in two tries, one apiece for prop Jason Humphreys and centre Lewis Isaac, with No 8 Tudor adding a conversion. Wing Michael Hughes crossed for two tries for the visitors with centre Diab Brunelli adding another before scrum half Nicholas Butterworth kicked a conversion and penalty.
A try for prop Gareth Pawson and five penalties from wing Carwyn Millburn was enough for Llangefni to beat Colwyn Bay by 20-13. Bay's No 8 Ben Evans crossed for a brace of tries and outside half Thom Williams kicked a penalty to pinch a losing bonus point.
