The RGC 1404 Senior side play their third and final pre-season friendly on Friday evening when they play Caldy from National League 2 North at Ruthin Rugby Club with an 8pm kick-off.
As in their previous two games against Bargoed and Tata Steel, Head Coach Chris Horsman will be giving all available members of his squad a run-out as the side prepare for their opening fixture in Division 1 East on Saturday week away at Gilfach Goch. He was also at pains to point out that as in those two games it is the performance rather than the result that is the important thing as far as he is concerned:
'From the very outset I have made clear to the squad that Damian and I see the pre-season friendlies as just another step in our progression towards our entry into Division 1 East. I have no doubt that Caldy will offer us as equally as stiff a task as did Bargoed and Tata Steel and I am looking forward to seeing how the players respond to the physical and mental challenge of having played three highly competitive fixtures in under two weeks.
Friday's game gives everyone in the squad another opportunity to stake a claim for inclusion in the starting line-up for our opening league fixture in just over a week's time and I have no doubt that each and every one of them will rise to the challenge.'
