Feast of rugby in the April sunshine served up at Welshpool
RGC 1404 under 17's held off a late come back from the Boy clubs of Wales to win by 13 points to 12, on a sunny afternoon in Welspool.
On a day more suited to cricket than rugby the RGC side started brightly and were dominant for much of the first half. This resulted in a close range try for man of the match, Max Davies and was followed by a penalty from outside half Tom Williams.
The best try of the game was scored after centre Osian Jones cut loose in his own half and cleared the half way line, before back cutting back inside and passing to scrum half Richard Roberts who released left wing Ollie Sharples to score out wide.
The second half saw the boys club come back into the game with flanker Jimmy Wilson leading the way with some great support play. A try mid way through the second half setup up a tense final ten minutes and indeed the Boys club side scored with the last play of the game, making the score 13-12 to RGC 1404 under 17's
This was the first of three development games, a great result and a real confidence booster as the boys look forward to what will be another big challenge when Yorkshire under 17's visit Eirias Park next Sunday 8th April. Kick off 2pm
