RGC 1404 Under 18 15 tries v COBRA Youth 0 but a much sterner test than the scoreline suggests
The RGC 1404 Under 18 side continue their preparations for this seasons regional age-grade competition with a Camp this weekend, at Rydal School, as a part of which yesterday they played a warm-up game against COBRA Youth.
Although the score-line might suggest otherwise the game was keenly contested, particularly during the second period (of three) and COBRA can take plenty of heart from their performance, particularly upfront where they keenly contested the breakdown and in the scrummage where their front-row posed plenty of problems for the various RGC combinations.
Where there was a marked difference between the 2 sides was in the backs where COBRA struggled to deal with the North Wales representative side's pace outwide - 12 of their 15 tries came from their back division.-
Whilst the RGC side can expect sterner tests in the weeks to come, this was a good preparation for what lies ahead both in terms of being a physical test and in providing a wealth of visual information for analysis. Hopefully the exercise was equally worthwhile for COBRA for whom grateful thanks are to be offered for providing such a competitive fixture in the midle of August.
