An RGC developmental team will face a North Wales Club Select XV at Eirias tomorrow night (Tuesday) with an 8pm KO.
The RGC team will be picked from the Academy, U18’s and senior players who have been on the fringe of the senior squad this season and it gives the RGC coaching staff a chance to have a good look at the players in match action. The Club Select XV is a regional invitational squad that has been coached by Ruthin’s Jim Salisbury and it will also be a chance for them to perform in front of the RGC coaches.
Before that teams from the Provinces will take part in an U15’s competition which will be 10 aside which will give the RGC coaching staff a chance to look at players for next seasons RGC U16’s.
Marc Roberts , WRU Regional Performance Development Manager, explains the thinking behind the Talent Identification Evening “We have a massive playing area in North Wales but it is about making the best out of the resources available. So as well as the matches taking place we have invited 37 scouts to Eirias tomorrow for a meeting with myself, Damian and Chris to discuss a plan going forward to help spot the developing talent playing for the clubs from U12’s right up to the seniors. Going forward we will be able to create a database of players so when they come up on the scouting radar we can monitor them going forward.”
The U15’s competition starts at 6.20pm followed by RGC Developmental Team v’s North Wales Club Select at 8pm at Eirias. Free entry.
