A great fixture to start 2012 - kick-off is 2pm
The RGC Senior squad play their second friendly of the season when they face the Rydal Vikings at Colwyn Bay Rugby Club on Monday, 2nd January, 2012, with a 2.00pm KO.
As well maintaining the traditional Christmas holiday fixture between the Vikings and a North Wales representative side the game will also provide the RGC Head Coach, Chris Horsman, with a further opportunity to run his eye over potential players as he seeks to prepare a squad prior to the team's entry into Division 1 East of the WRU Leagues next season.
Marc Roberts the WRU performance manager in North Wales said "This is a really useful fixture as it covers two key areas of development. Firstly it continues to strengthen and develop the already positive academic partnership between the WRU RGC Academy and Rydal Penrhos. Secondly, it is a great opportunity for Chris get a better analytical view on the squad and individual players. This type of feedback then goes into shaping the individual development program for each player as we move forward into next season.
Given that the senior program is only three months old we are really pleased with the response that we have had from the North Wales Rugby Community, clubs are clearly supporting the venture as we have had up to 35 and 40 players regularly at training. It is still early days in the development of this team but the signs are positive for the future"
Following Monday's game the next two games for RGC 1404 are home to the Royal Welsh Fusiliers on 18th January and away to Wales Deaf on 4th February.'
