Colwyn Bay U12's 54 v Bethesda U12's 12
A wonderful first half display of flowing rugby was epitomised by a trio of tries for Sam Earl Jones, thrilling the crowd as the Bay connected numerous phases of running rugby with Ivor Featherstonehaugh linking backs and forwards to create a formidable display.
Great distribution was created by half backs Will Opie in linking with Peter Jones who cleverly varied his passes, which released the talent outside giving the opportunity to make the most of Nye Michael’s swerving running lines and Sion Edwards’ direct approach.
Will Head’s assertive play at full back gave confidence, enabling the team to vary play and take risks with the copious amount of ball won by the great forward play, led by Ruby Roberts who was outstanding in the pack and Conner Hogan driving the ball powerfully whilst retaining possession.
Conner Williams made a welcome return from injury at half time and was prominent in supporting Seb Marshall to take the game to Bethesda.Carwyn Knights made good yards on the wing by running straight and retaining the ball well.
Man of the match; Ivor Featherstonehaugh for great linking play between backs and forwards and clever work at the breakdown
Well done Bay, a great display of phase play. Let’s build on this in the lead up to the tour at the end of the season.
Tries; Sam earl Jones 3, Ivor Featherstonehaugh 2, Conner Hogan, Nye Michael, Peter Jones, Sion Edwards

Rydal Prep U10s 15 – Colwyn Bay U10s 15
Ollie Gibson (1 try)
Josh Jakeman (1 try)
Owen Phillips (1 try)
Rydal Prep U10s 25 – Colwyn Bay U10s 5
Sam Saunders (1 try)
The first match was a closely contested game, played with great spirit. Scoring was end to end, with good support from all players. The draw contributed to Colwyn Bay bringing home the Cooper Cup for the first time in the three years of the competition.
A second match was played introducing some of Colwyn Bay’s newer players from our growing squad and gave them some valuable game experience. Well done to Adam Lester-Owen who had a good first match for Colwyn Bay U10s.

Welshpool Under 16s 12 v 42 Hawick Albion Under 16s
Promising performance in inaugural fixture
Welshpool's Under 16s were finally able to make their long-delayed debut, and put in a hugely promising performance against their well-drilled Scottish visitors.
After Hawick surged to an early 20-0 lead, Welshpool began to look more organised in defence, gradually grinding their way back into the match. However, a further score for Albion gave them a 27-0 advantage at the interval.
For much of the second half, the home side were in control, and finally got themselves on the scoresheet through a try for captain Adam Gough, shortly followed by a score for prop Ryan Price, which was converted by Gough. Hawick got themselves back into the driving seat with a further three tries, however, and ran out deserved 42-12 victors.
Welshpool's next fixture is taking place on Wednesday 15th February, when they take on the Gogledd Cymru South Under 15s development side at Maesydre, kicking off at 3pm.

Flint are presently looking for a dynamic individual to assist the club on a voluntary basis to further develop the Junior Section at the Club
VOLUNTARY CHAIRMAN JUNIOR SECTION – FLINT RFC
Flint Rugby Football club is a progressive club based at the Cae Castell Ground in Flint, a unique setting. We are presently looking for a dynamic individual to assist the club on a voluntary basis to further develop the Junior Section at the Club.
Experience of overseeing the coaching of mini sections would be an advantage but the focus is on the development of core team values and enjoyment. Experienced players and volunteers are usually on hand to help out at all age levels but the key requirement is for an administrator with the time and ambition to develop the Junior Section.
Usual responsibilities are:
· Ensuring registration of all players
· Overseeing the Financial Management of the Junior Section
· Exploring Sponsorship Opportunities for the Junior Section
· Reporting to the Committee on a monthly basis
· Attending match days and training evenings
· Helping with travel arrangements for match days
· Fixtures (this is rarely a problem in the North Wales and Wirral area).
The rewards for an enthusiastic volunteer are, as always, the satisfaction of being part of the development of rugby football and perhaps a stepping stone to more professional roles.
If you are interested and would like to discuss this opportunity in more depth please call Ian Buckett on 07722606497.
