Saturday's RGC 1404 fixture v Wales Deaf has been switched to the 4G pitch at Llandarcy Academy of Sport with a 12.30 kick-off
*****
In spite of the cold snap the RGC 1404 senior side will be playing their 3rd friendly of the season when they travel down to South Wales on Saturday to face the Wales Deaf Team. The game was originally scheduled to be played at Masteg Rugby Club but when the weather rendered that pitch unplayable so the game was switched to the brand new 4G pitch at the Llandarcy Academy of Sport near Swansea. (12.30 KO).
Whilst the off-field conditions might be frosty the North Wales side can expect a warm reception on it against a side who are one of the premier deaf rugby playing national sides in the world. Winners of the first 2 Rugby World Cups for the Deaf, the Wales national side has beaten England on 8 of the 9 occasions that the 2 sides have met and will be featuring a number of players with Premiership experience.
For RGC 1404 Head Coach Chris Horsman, Saturday's game represents another important step to-wards the teams entry into next seasons Division 1 East League:
'Our intention was always to gradually crank up the level of friendly fixture that we played this season and the players are well aware that Saturdays game will represent a significant step-up in the level of competition to that that they have faced previously this season. However they are equally aware of the importance of playing such matches as we prepare for next season. Training at Eirias Parc has gone well and we are very grateful to the Wales Deaf Teams management and players in being flexible enough to allow the game to be moved to Llandarcy.'
Following Saturday's match the RGC 1404 senior team's next match will be on 22nd Feb against a North Wales Council Presidents XV.
