1) So.. tell us about your rugby playing background?
I've played rugby since I was approximately 15 years old. I joined the Rhyl Youth Team, under the very watchful eye of Tom LLoyd Ellis, assisted by Benny Eggs (This certainly got me ready for the rest of my rugby career!). My career progressed.. playing for North Wales U18's, Rhyl Rugby Club 1st XV, Liverpool, Liverpool St.Helens, Ruthin and North Wales Seniors. I finished my playing career back with the Rhyl 1st team.
2) How did you get into coaching........when did you start........and where have you coached previously?
After hanging up my playing boots I began coaching Rhyl Juniors with Simon Farrell and Colin Hall. This is when I began working to gain my coaching certificates (Levels One and Two, Level Three is almost complete). Then I moved on to coach Rhyl Youth and had a very successful few years. The coaching team then moved on to the Rhyl First Team, this is where I was introduced to Mike Batey, the rest is history!!
I have coaching experience with RGC U20's and the RGC A Team. I've also coached a successful North Wales Exiles 7s team who won the Manchester senior 7's tournament.
3) You've joined Abergele as head coach for the forthcoming season.........can you tell us why?
Now in 2012 on to The Green Army. I have come along with Mike Batey to an up and coming club to face a new challenge and hopefully make new friends.
4) What are you looking to introduce to Abergele next season either in coaching or on the playing side?
I hope that my playing and coaching experiences will help our training sessions to be enjoyable, skillful and exciting. But there is still alot of hard work if we are to push for a top of division place, even a promotion to division one.
5) Is there anything you'd like to add before the 2012/13 season begins?
Firstly, I would like to thank all the Abergele members for the kind welcome I have received and I am looking forward to the season ahead. I will give 100% in everything that I do and hope to have everyone on board for a fantastic and successful season. Roll on training, that's when the hard work begins!!!!
