The Triple Crown will head north this week when it travels to Colwyn Bay for the Wales Under 20 v Italy Under 20 match on Friday (9 March, KO 19.10).
Fans will have the opportunity to see the impressive silverware and piece of Welsh rugby history before kick-off and at half-time when the trophy will be paraded around the EIRIAS stadium by local children from Ysgol Pendorlan, Colwyn Bay.
After Wales’ nail-biting victory against England at Twickenham last weekend, the senior side were awarded the Triple Crown in this year’s RBS 6 Nations tournament and to honour the fantastic support of the Welsh public, the Triple Crown will be making an appearance at various locations around Wales to enable those loyal fans to see the silverware.
A sell-out match at the inaugural international match at EIRIAS, Colwyn Bay last month proved the enormous support for Welsh rugby that the region has and with an expected sell- out anticipated again this weekend, those avid rugby supporters will now have the added bonus of seeing the Triple Crown.
Whilst tickets have been flying out of the box office there are still tickets remaining for those who have not yet purchased but fans are urged to buy quickly to avoid disappointment after the sell-out match against Scotland.
Mally Tidswell, EIRIAS general manager said: “We were astounded by the turn out for the match against Scotland last month and the enthusiasm for the under 20s fixtures has been incredible.
“Tickets have been selling faster again than the previous match and with the Triple Crown also making the trip north, we are anticipating even more people will want to come along and support Wales at EIRIAS.
“We want to encourage those who are planning to attend the game against Italy to buy their tickets as soon as possible to avoid any disappointment.”
WRU Event Manager Alex Luff believes the Triple Crown is an extra incentive to visit the North Wales venue: “The supporters who attended the Scotland match were truly outstanding. The facilities at EIRIAS are fantastic, the Wales team were very impressed and that coupled with the wonderful support from their fans allowed them to come away with a victory.
“We want to emulate that first match and create a venue that opposition fear coming to and the level of support last month definitely set the bar very high.
“We wanted to reward that support by bringing the Triple Crown up north and giving those passionate supporters another added experience.
“Tickets are selling fast and I’d just like to reiterate how important it is for people to buy in advance.”
Wales Under 20 team manager Mark Taylor is looking forward to returning to North Wales. “The players were buzzing after the reception they got at EIRIAS for the Scotland match and we can’t wait to get back there. Our performance against England was disappointing but we are confident we can bounce back and put together a good display on Friday.”
Tickets for the Wales Under 20 v Italy Under 20 are on sale from EIRIAS priced at £15 seated, £10 standing (adults) and £5 standing (juniors).
