Denbigh Youth 12 v Rhyl Youth 15
First report kindly supplied by Rhyl RFC
Rhyl's youth team recorded back to back wins at Denbigh on Saturday.
The home team are riding high in third place in the league but a stunning break from fit again Tim Back cut the Ddinbych defence to shreds within the first five minutes. Back's thrilling run created a try for Sebi Collinge which was converted by Simon Evans to put Rhyl 7-0 ahead.
Rhyl continued to dominate the game and scored a second try through Louie Collinge, following some excellent wide support play from the back division. The try was unconverted to leave Rhyl 12-0 ahead at half time.
Denbigh started a fightback in the second half by pressuring Rhyl's line, although they were initially repelled by a massive defensive effort from Rhyl's youngsters. However Denbigh scored two quick tries, one of which was converted to level the scores moving into the last quarter.
Dinbych seemed to have their tails up, but Rhyl withstood the storm and in the last ten minutes came back into the game. Man of the match Harry Lowe was an inspiration, taking the ball and driving froward powerfully. He was held up short of line where Denbigh folded with the pressure and were penalised. Up stepped stand off Simon Evans to calmly slot the penalty kick between the posts. With two minutes left, Ddinbych tried one last throw of the dice, opting to run the ball from a penalty that was admittedly far out. But the attack was snuffed out by the Rhyl defence to clinch the win.

Dinbych's fight back too late to secure a home win.
By Sam Jones | Monday 12th November 2012
A spirited display by Dinbych's Youth not enough to overcome Rhyl Youth at Caeau Les Phillips.
In perfect playing conditions this local derby was keenly contested with Rhyl edging matters with a late penalty to take the spoils.
It was the third game in succession where Denbigh have disappointed in the first half blighted by a number of penalties, poor set pieces and missed tackles leaving Rhyl to score two tries to take a well deserved 12-0 interval lead.
With Nigel Jones the Denbigh Coach reading the riot act to his team at the interval Denbigh slowly gained the initiative and when a Rhyl player was sin binned after 10 minutes Denbigh took full advantage. It was from loose play in Rhyl's 22 meter that Denbigh finally made the breakthrough when Centre Garin Roberts picked up the ball wide out wide to score in the corner to reduce the deficit to 12-5.
This purple patch for Denbigh was much due to the increasing dominance of the back row where Harrison Jones played a major role. Denbigh then drew matters level when centre Garin Roberts scored his second try switching play in midfield and running in from 20 meters following good lineout ball.
With Huw Alexander converting from the touchline to draw matters level with 15 minutes remaining Denbigh appeared confident of snatching the game. However it was Rhyl who re-grouped well after these setbacks and when Denbigh fumbled the ball from a high kick on their five meter line a penalty was awarded for offside after the scrum and resultant breakdown leaving Rhyl to score an easy penalty for a deserved victory at the death.

YOUTHS GO DOWN FIGHTING TO CAERNARFON
By David Dunn | Sunday 11th November 2012
Bangor youth team gave up a 14 point lead to go down to Caernarfon at home.
BANGOR 14 v 23 CAERNARFON
Both sides fielded strong teams and a highly competitive game was the result. The game opened with both sides probing each others defences and it was Bangor who took their chances in the first half scoring two converted tries. The first came from wing forward Declan Jones standing in the centre and making a speedy break taking him to the try line. Winger Alex Griffiths converted and soon after came close to scoring with a break down the left wing.
A similar break soon after saw centre Carwyn Roberts side step two defenders and run in under the posts for Griffiths to convert. The visitors made good use of their possession and outside half Aled Jones continually penned them back with long clearance kicks that kept catching Bangor out of position. Bangor gave away a penalty and Jones put the Cofis on the score sheet before half time.
Bangor never really got into the game in the second half giving away numerous penalties and regularly spilling the ball in contact. Caernarfon were the quicker and stronger in the rucks to grab the ball despite some valiant efforts from Bangor's forwards, the Marston twins, prop Rhys Williams, No.8 Rhun Morris and second row Rob Muldoon.
Aled Jones continued to kick deep and catch Bangor in possession. It was fitting that he broke the defence with a try that he converted. When he added a penalty a little later Bangor were clinging on by a single point but any hope of winning was dashed when they fluffed a clearance kick straight into the arms of right wing Daniel Pritchard who made the most of the gift to score under the posts for Jones to convert. Jones rounded off a great performance by adding a final penalty.
